The Medical laboratory technician will be certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) or an equivalent MLT, MLS, or CLS certification with appropriate training and a minimum of two years of experience as a generalist.
A generalist is defined as a Medical laboratory Technician that can perform testing in all areas of the Clinical Laboratory, to include Chemistry, Blood Bank, Hematology, Urinalysis and Microbiology.
