Job Responsibilities Assisting Police Services with intelligence gathering.
Instrumental in the prevention, detection, and seizing of contraband items at the institution.
Responsible for inmate drug testing.
Assists with cell searches, contraband retrieval, employee searches, vehicle searches, and dorm searches.
Provides the Warden with pertinent information as it relates to gang activity and suspicious behavior at the institution.
All other job duties will be given by the Institutional Major.

Must have 12 months or more work experience in corrections or law enforcement.
Must be a U.
S.
Citizen 18 years of age or older High school graduate or GED Must possess a valid driver's license Tattoos:
Must not be offensive and/or gang related or visibly located on the face or head.
Tattoos on the neck will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Cannot have been convicted of a crime with a maximum allowable sentence of one year or more, or a fine of $1,000.
Must pass a physical examination administered by SCDC.
Must successfully complete the Correctional Officer Basic Certification Course within first (6) six months of placement into the position.
SCDC INTERNAL APPLICANTS:
Must also have completed Defensive Driving Training and cannot be on the No Drive List and or the No Draw List with SCDC.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
