Job Responsibilities Complete and record health histories of inmates.
Perform admission procedures for critically ill patients.
Order diagnostic testing as appropriate.
Determine a daily plan of care in collaboration with Physicians, Psychiatrists, Nurses, Psychologists, Physician Assistants, and other Nurse Practitioners.
Write daily orders for fluids, medications, nutrition and respiratory management.
Evaluate patient response to medical treatment and make changes as necessary.
Document daily progress of patients and write discharge summaries.
Perform resuscitation interventions as required.
Perform highly skilled and technical procedures (Suprapubic bladder taps, percutaneous central venous catheter placements, etc.
).
Manage the infirmary on night shift.
Take calls for Physicians on night shift when on duty.
Cover for emergencies for the SIB unit when on duty to include suturing.
Serve as a role model to nursing staff and students.
Teach/counsel/monitor the treatment regimen in selected populations.
Resume preferred, but not required.

(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with clinical experience.
Two (2) years as a Nurse Practitioner.
Licensed as or eligible for licensure as a Nurse Practitioner by the South Carolina Board of Nursing with clinical experience.
