Responsibilities:
Surgical First Assistants use standard and specialized equipment to position patients in accordance with the surgeon's instruction.
The assistant will perform sponging, suturing, suctioning, holding retractors, hemostasis (staunching bleeding), and treating wounds.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide the surgeon with appropriate visualization of the operative site using retractors, sponges, and other techniques according to standards Perform duties as a surgical assistant in all surgical specialties practicing in the ambulatory surgery center.
