Job Description Summary


Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures. Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures. Operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Performs quality control and assurance procedures. Records lab results in specified system. Follows all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards.

Job Description


Performs multiple duties in the Fast Flow Laboratory (Laboratory Support Services, Hematology and Chemistry) to include:
1. pre-analytical processing of biological specimens for testing in the Fast Flow Lab. 2. Data entry of client demographic information and test orders into the laboratory computer system 3. Perform and interpret analysis on clinical specimens submitted for testing. 4. Performs quality control and maintenance procedures. 5. Evaluate new methodologies. 6. Train new personnel/students 7. Perform other duties as required. Prefer someone with >2 years experience

To transfer a 100 lb. patient that can not assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
