Job Description: The Client is requesting the
services
of a senior consultant to assist in the design and development of Business Objects dashboards and reports in an SAP environment. The consultant will provide technical analysis and expertise to optimize universes and data structures; coordinate the development of functional specifications; design and develop requested reports and dashboards in a quality manner; create detail documentation that facilitates the use and future modification of these reports and dashboards; and provide extensive knowledge transfer sessions for IT and business users in the use of Business Objects tools and techniques. The consultant will support the development of operational and management reports and dashboards as part of a project to replace or interface STO s Debt Management and Investment Managements Systems with SAP. The Client has implemented the following modules of SAP: FI, FM, HR, Payroll, SRM, CRM, Treasury Management and PBF. The consultant will design, develop, edit and maintain queries using Business Object tools and techniques to support reporting requirements and data integration tasks across a broad spectrum of applications and uses within STO. The consultant will also coordinate activities with the the Client to ensure decisions, recommendations and work products are in compliance with best practices and established standards.
Serves as a liaison between the business
community
and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs. Possesses expertise in the business unit(s) they support, as well as, an understanding of the IT organization''s systems and capabilities. Analyzes business partner''s operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions. Assists in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology. Translates high level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and manages changes to such specifications. Educates the IT organization on the direction of the business. Negotiates agreements and commitments by facilitating communication between business unit(s) and IT from initial requirements to final implementation. Possesses an understanding of technological trends and uses this knowledge to bring solutions to business units supported to enhance the enterprise''s competitive edge. May make recommendations for buy versus build decision. Interact with business users to gather/develop functional and technical requirements and translate them into proposed business intelligence applications and reporting solutions.
Coordinate with business users and IT personnel to design, develop and maintain complex business intelligence reporting and analytical solutions using various Business Object tools and techniques.
Create and present proto-types to business users as options, as well as purpose alternative solutions to legacy reports using different technologies and development techniques.
Create requirements document for approval by system owners and business users to be used in the development of reports and dashboards.
Model, design, develop, test and implement approved solutions in accordance with business reporting requirements.
Work closely with DBA''s, BASIS team and project managers at Client site to conduct testing, transmit changes through the appropriate release management processes to production to ensure minimal issues and optimal performance.
Provide daily support of the existing Business Objects reports and universes with a focus on performing root cause analysis and finding ways to increase efficiencies, improve user satisfaction and reduce cost/time to maintain.
Perform optimization reviews to consistently improve the universes, data structures, and to improve and streamline processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, viability and value.
Create detailed documentation, including data dictionaries, during the creation or modification of universes, reports and dashboards.
Provide extensive knowledge transfer sessions for IT and business users to ensure business intelligence applications and reporting solutions can be created, modified and maintained by Client at the end of this engagement.
Assist business users in downloading and using data from Business Warehouse and Business Objects data to Crystal Reports, Dashboards, Excel, etc. for analysis and dissemination to internal and external users.
Advises Client on data warehousing strategy and researches new data warehouse applications to determine viability and adoption by Client.
Help Client management publish and implement best practices, standards and guidelines.
TO PERFORM THE JOB SUCCESSFULLY, THE CONSULTANT MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING
Qualifications:
MUST HAVE EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE OF BUSINESS OBJECT ARCHITECTURE AND COMPONENTS, AND THE DESIGN OF COMPLEX WEB INTELLIGENCE REPORTS AND DASHBOARDS.
MUST HAVE A STRONG UNDERSTANDING OF BUSINESS OBJECTS ARCHITECTURE AND INTEGRATION WITH SAP AND NON-SAP DATA SOURCES.
MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO TRANSLATE COMPLEX BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS INTO TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ULTIMATELY INTO PROJECT DELIVERABLES.
MUST DEMONSTRATE A STRONG UNDERSTANDING OF REPORTING AND ANALYTICS PRINCIPLES, THEORIES, CONCEPTS AND TECHNIQUES INCLUDING CREATING REPORTS/DASHBOARDS THAT ENHANCE THE USER S EXPERIENCE WITH SAP.
DEMONSTRATE A STRONG UNDERSTANDING OF DIMENSIONAL MODELING AND DATA WAREHOUSING CONCEPTS AND METHODOLOGIES.
HAVE SOUND KNOWLEDGE OF BUSINESS WAREHOUSE TOOLS, TECHNIQUES, STRUCTURES, AND CONNECTIVITY/INTERACTION WITH BUSINESS OBJECTS.
BACHELOR S DEGREE IN

SCIENCE, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, MATHEMATICS, ENGINEERING OR RELATED DISCIPLINE; MINIMUM OF 5 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN THE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE APPLICATIONS AND REPORTING SOLUTIONS USING BUSINESS OBJECTS TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES, PREFERABLY IN SAP ENVIRONMENT; MINIMUM 5 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN DEVELOPING COMPLEX WEB INTELLIGENCE REPORTS, DASHBOARDS, CRYSTAL REPORTS AND ADVANCED EXCEL REPORTS FROM MULTI-SOURCE BUSINESS WAREHOUSE UNIVERSES; MUST POSSESS STRONG KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE IN SOURCING DATA FROM SAP BUSINESS WAREHOUSES AND NON-SAP SYSTEMS;
