SQL Database Engineer

Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases. Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases in general. Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization. May develop stored procedures and/or triggers. Candidates will be responsible for providing a working model of our transaction processing environment for capacity assessment and planning; loading new databases and supporting configuration of the databases as designed by downward directed programs; configuring physical database storage, sizing, backup, recovery and security actions for multiple database instances; tuning databases to achieve optimal performance; implementing software solutions for performance enhancement, operator interface, and increased user capability; and supporting production systems, to include database maintenance, requests for service and system configuration management. Daily administration tasks such as installing, maintaining, monitoring, recovering, rebuilding, upgrading, patching and performance tuning.
Required Skills and Education
Required education: Bachelor Degree or four additional years of experience in lieu of a degree
o Powershell scripting and/or VBScript authoring experience o File Services/Print Servers o Database backup and disaster recovery o Deployment of Microsoft Updates o Develop solution tests o Data Migration o Experience in implementing and maintaining SQL Server 2005, 2008 & 2012 o Good writing and documentation skills
Preferred Skills and Education
Windows Server 2003/2008/2012 engineering experience Litigation support experience
