Maintenance Mechanic

The WJB Dorn VA Medical Center is recruiting for Maintenance Mechanic positions.
The purpose of the position is to perform skilled tasks involving the operation, installation, maintenance, testing, documentation and repair of utility system components including electrical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, medical gas/air systems and fire alarm systems.
Incumbent will maintain appropriate level of computer literacy to use the stations' engineering software package.
Incumbent will work alone most of the time.
He/she will work from blueprints, drawings or other specifications.
The incumbent will be responsible for following an assignment through completion from lay out to final assembly.
Incumbent must be proficient in the use of all tools and testing devices associated with the above described trades, such as hand tools, multimeter, electrical power tools, and torches.
His/her work will be subject to spot checks for adherence to policies, quantity and quality of work.
Incumbent must be skilled in running conduit, rigid, thin wall, flexible, and wire mold.
Incumbent must understand electrical color coding and must understand the principles of transformation.
He/she must have knowledge of the refrigeration cycle and be able to use this knowledge of commercial and industrial systems to locate and check elements which control low side and high side pressure; temperature of the cooling units; the temperatures of the liquid and suction lines; and the running times of various mechanisms.
Incumbent must have knowledge of how various supply, disposal, and utility systems and equipment such as water and gas systems, fire sprinkler equipment, and water closets are installed and operate.
Performs other duties as assigned.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
