Job Function: The Information Technology Specialist position will serve the Bible Way Church and its facilities by supporting the LAN (Local Area Network) hardware and software. This position is responsible for managing and coordinating computer operations, computer systems, and the companys network to assure effective computer resources are provided to users. Duties also include coordinating computer services for the Midlands Community Development Corporation. The Information Technology Specialist works with Information Technology Director to retain the integrity of the network, computers and software. The position of Information Technology Specialist is a part-time position with on-call hours, appropriate salary and benefits, reports to the Information Technology Director and Chief Operating Officer.
Skills and Attributes Required: Candidate must have a minimum of four years work experience, extensive knowledge of LAN administration, computer operations, and computer systems. Desirable certifications for this position are Network Plus, A+, and MCP. Cisco experience is preferred. Excellent communication skills and high ethical standards and integrity are required. Candidate must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to follow instructions and the ability to work efficiently with others. The ideal candidate will speak and behave in a professional manner at all times.
Responsibilities:
Daily administration of the LAN including system stability, integrity and troubleshooting
Perform hardware and software upgrades to network servers including operating system and applications
Assist in identifying and repairing any network device
Responsible for network backup integrity and recovery coordination along with disaster preparedness planning
Work in closely with Information Technology Director and assist with job coverage, i.e. vacations, sick leave, etc.
Maintain documentation of network system, operational procedures, network topology and hardware inventory
Make recommendations related to purchasing and installation service to include needs analysis, procurement, configuration and disposal, essential for smooth technical operation of hardware and software
Analyze and troubleshoot problems, develop improved operating procedures, alternate processing methods, communications, information flow, management reporting, and operational efficiency
Provide a secure infrastructure, including built-in firewall protection and secure remote access
Maintain backup of BWCAR information and assist staff in retrieving deleted files and restoring earlier version of files
Provide off-site access to employees (contacts, email, calendars, network files, internal web sites, business applications)
Provide full user account support (user additions, removals and configuration of user permissions and restrictions)
Maintain internal web site (intranet) so that employees can share documents as needed
Make program and input data revisions through computer console to maintain operations
Perform minor equipment repairs where applicable
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Ability to perform typical advanced server and network administration skills to include upgrades and maintenance of hardware, operating systems, and LAN, an Wireless Protocols
Demonstrate knowledge in user administration, firewall and router configuration, Microsoft Office 2010 support, Windows Exchange Server 2010, Windows Server 8 and 2012 Windows XP Professional, Netware administrative and system utilities and DOS
Strong working experience in connectivity and communications protocols essential
Experience with installing cabling systems, hubs and routers and maintenance
Excellent organizational and project management skills including ability to organize time and work on multiple tasks and follow through to completion of task or project
Ability to create and write clear, complete documentation of systems and procedures
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills including high degree of attention to data and accuracy
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently or with a team
Performs all other duties as deemed necessary by IT Director, COO and Senior Pastor

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to move about freely on the church campus, and must be able to lift computer equipment and run cabling. The employee must possess experience with installing network cables under various accessible conditions. Additionally, while performing the duties of this position, the employee must have the ability to look at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
Work Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work with church staff, church members, and others located in various buildings on the church campus. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
