Entry-Level Water Resources Engineer

Overview / Responsibilities
Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently seeking an Entry-Level Water Resources Engineer to join our team in Columbia, SC to support our Water Resources, Natural Resources and Environmental Assessment groups. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor of Science degree in civil / environmental engineering, preferably an Engineer-in-Training certification, and 0-3 years of experience.
Key Responsibilities
Support civil design, stream restoration, and other water resources design projects
Support stormwater management programs
Support environmental permitting projects
Support various projects within Environmental Branch (e.g., Phase I Environmental Site
Assessments and wetland delineations)
Conduct field investigations
Conduct sampling events (surface water, groundwater, soil) in various site settings
Perform engineering calculations
Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models
Assist senior staff with the preparation of technical reports, including compiling analytical data
Conduct public education, including environmental education in schools, educational workshops and at local festivals
Some travel/field work (daytime and overnight) may be required (usually in Southeast U.S.)
Work with a team of water resources engineers and environmental scientists
Have and maintain a valid driver's license, work outdoors in various weather conditions
Skills / Qualifications
B.S in civil/environmental engineering or equivalent; Master's degree is a plus
Engineer-in-Training certification preferred
Knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics required
Experience in any of the following:
stormwater management, any phase of civil design, project planning, drawing and specification development, calculations, report writing, wetland delineation, protected species, or stream restoration
Experience with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and SWMM model suites desired, but not required
Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience using AutoCAD is preferred
Experience using ArcGIS is a plus
Strong technical writing and communications skills
OSHA 40 certification is a plus
An ideal candidate would be a self-starter, open to learn, adaptable to change, have a strong work ethic and thrives in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities
Flexible to work outside normal business hours and overtime, as needed
Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with management, staff, and clients
Technical writing skills
Ability to apply analytical/scientific thinking to define and solve problems
Ability to work well in a team environment with a willingness to follow detailed instructions and learn new skills
Ability to execute field and office tasks and operate independently at times specifically in field setting
Must pass drug test, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
